In addition to being both extremely durable and modern, concrete flooring can be combined with a variety of different materials. Here are some options:

Wood

Typically, concrete is perceived as being cold and lifeless. However, adding wood to the space will create a warm, natural feel. Considering the wide range of concrete flooring and types Capture d’écran 2015-04-15 à 11.51.27 of wood you can choose from, even the most distinctive taste can be accommodated.

Brick

Brickwork pairs beautifully with concrete flooring of various colours. It’s also a great choice if you’re looking to add a touch of vintage charm to one or several rooms. Capture d’écran 2015-04-16 à 10.06.09

Stone

Similar to brick, stone can ramp up the classic feel of a space. Stone can be used for both interiors and exteriors, making it a solid choice. It also offers a wide range of looks, from subdued to totally original. Capture d’écran 2015-04-16 à 10.48.53

Concrete

That’s right, you read correctly! You can pair concrete with more concrete, but make sure you don’t end up with a space that resembles a bunker. While it might work for a garage, a regular room made entirely of concrete could come across as cold Capture d’écran 2015-04-15 à 16.01.17 and stark. To avoid this, you can play with various molding effects in the concrete, as you see in this photo:

Metal

If you’d like to create a futuristic look in an area with a concrete floor, go with metal. However, metallic tones tend to give rooms a cold feeling, so keep this in mind when using metal in a basement or a room other than a garage. Capture d’écran 2015-04-15 à 12.12.27

Combinations

Why not opt for a mix of materials to harmonize perfectly with your concrete flooring? By playing with various combinations of wood, concrete and brick, you can always find ways to bring out the “hidden warmth” of concrete. Here’s a perfect example :Capture d’écran 2015-04-15 à 11.46.06
